Long ago it was proven and known that preselling is the path to increased sales volume. Yes, this is just the final step before you expose your reader to sales copy, but it really can make a huge difference. When you’re preselling a product you’re obviously not selling it, so you can’t create a sales pitch and push your prospects to buy from you. This is why you should weave in the benefits of the product you’re promoting into your presell in such a way that it doesn’t look like hardcore selling. It should seem more like a recommendation than an effort to grab the sale. Avoid trying to pull one over on people because if you know very little about the thing you are promoting, then that tends to come through pretty loud and clear. If you want to talk about the problem that is solved by the product, that is fine as long as it is presented properly.
Another type of presell is the product review even though it is written differently from other presell approaches. But with a review it becomes even more important for you to have actually used the product, read it or whatever. People expect glowing reviews that are not critical of the product because they know what is going on, but offering sincere information that is negative but truthful will be appreciated. You can write in a totally unbiased tone and one that is neutral, but there is nothing wrong with putting your personality into it, and in fact you should do that. So you write your presell and provide a link to the sales copy, and that is all you can and should do. You should have a healthy conversion rate if all else is in place and your traffic is the right audience.
If there’s some kind of supporting data that you can use with your presell then do so by all means because it will help you get people to not only know about the effectiveness of the product, but it will also make it easy for them to make a buying decision. The only way you will ever know how effective your efforts are is to track what you do, and you will obviously measure how many people clicked on your affiliate link at the bottom of your presell copy.
